"Take up space. And stay. Because I want to celebrate you."
"How can I celebrate women (including their pain)?
I no longer want to portray women exclusively as wounded or passive figures, but rather to make them visible and celebrate them in both their strength and their pain. My work thus shifts from criticism to revaluation—a transformation.
The belief that women must be, above all, pretty and not too much.
That belief has taken root in me.
It is a belief I must confront.
And sometimes I even believed it.
It made me often feel too ugly and too much in everything.
And with me, pretty much every woman I know.
Take up space.
Because you weren’t made to be easy.
You weren’t made to fit in nicely.
You don’t have to fold yourself into something that’s wearable.
Take up space.
And stay.
Because I want to celebrate you."
