De dag dat niemand kwam

There comes a day when it becomes clear that fairy tales aren’t real, when the magic spells come to an end and adult life begins. But how wonderful would it be to lose yourself in enchanting fantasies just one more time? In ‘DE DAG DAT NIEMAND KWAM’, we meet Princess Lieve. She spends hours gazing out of her window, hoping to catch sight of her saviour approaching from afar. But the longer we sit with the princess in her tower room, the more the mist lifts. Outside is not a fairy-tale landscape at all, but a world that bears a striking resemblance to our own. ‘DE DAG DAT NIEMAND KWAM’ is a spectacular, thunderous, bright-pink show about wanting to be held. What if you find out that no one is coming to rescue you? ‘DE DAG DAT NIEMAND KWAM’ filled the auditoriums at Musis, Theater aan het Spui and Theater de Richel. It is an accessible 14+ production, which Laura and Renée would love to perform again.

Fragment

Lieve:

Renée Pinksterboer (she/her) writes personal, funny and absurd poetry, prose and plays in which she shines a spotlight on the very things people would rather keep hidden. She tackles themes such as loneliness, escapism and grief. It is precisely those themes that feel vast and overwhelming in real life that are made manageable and relatable on stage. Renée believes that art is for everyone, and therefore writes for those who do not regularly visit the theatre. She has published with Op Ruwe Planken and De Seizoenszine, performed at De Poeziebar and the Johnny van Doorn Festival, and, as part of her internship with the musical theatre duo ‘Frino’, has performed at Oerol, Theaterfestival de Parade and Hoogte80, amongst others.

Renée created this production in collaboration with Laura van de Werf (she/her), who is graduating from the Theatre School in Arnhem with this production. Her theatre explores themes such as queer female love, loneliness, and the fear of time and growing up. Through vulnerability, humour and imagination, she blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, creating space for exploratory ways of being, told from a queer perspective.
