[healing is consuming me] interrogates the paradox of "wellness fatigue": Social media’s curated wellness content ironically amplifies overstimulation and overconsumption. No matter how hard you try to resist, it finds its way in and fully reshape our sense of self. In the endless scroll of self-optimisation, wellness has become another commodity.

Reclaiming autonomy by DIY beauty and wellness treatments has given internet users the illusion of control but also the guilt of failure when goals aren’t met. This paradoxical tension between well-being and convenience leaves us trapped in a cycle of seeking help from the very systems that exhaust us.

Maroua Gaddur is a Dutch artist who explores the (invisible) digital structures that shape both our online and offline world. Through screen-based work and writing, she dissects how the internet and its culture quietly shape our identities, language and interactions with each other. Her work often repurposes pop-culture aesthetics and tools, net-speak and digital trends online, inviting viewers to question their own involvement within these structures.
