As human beings, we receive stimuli every day, every hour, every minute, and even every second. Whether consciously or unconsciously, all of these stimuli influence who we are and how we behave. In a visually oriented, digital, and modern society, we are constantly exposed to sensory input, making overstimulation and the need to unwind increasingly significant aspects of everyday life.
With breathing space, I want you to experience, reflect on, and feel what overstimulation, decompression, and the pause in between can be like. The video Breathing Space takes you on a journey through the endless cycle of sensory experiences. It becomes an infinite circle: from the calmness of natural tones to the intensity and chaos of vibrant colours, through the stillness of black and white, and finally back to the balance of nature.
Through this work, I invite viewers to become aware of the rhythms of stimulation and rest that shape our daily lives and to recognise the importance of taking a moment to pause and simply breathe.
