A divorce is a heavy and deeply disruptive period. For many parents and children, their entire world changes in a short space of time. Yet many people continue living together in one home after a divorce, because no other housing is immediately available. This often leads to tension, stress and uncertainty. For children, this situation can be especially confusing and burdensome, affecting their sense of safety and wellbeing.

"Temporary Home" offers a solution during this vulnerable phase. It is a place where parents and children can stay temporarily when they have nowhere else to go right away. The concept consists of small, individual living units for parent and child, combined with a shared living room and play area. This shared space forms the heart of the design and provides room for connection, support and contact with others in a similar situation.

The space was designed with care for tranquility, safety and reflection. Soft shapes, a sense of 
overview and a warm, homely atmosphere allow residents to feel safe and at ease. The feeling of 
"home" is central — this is not a shelter. Residents have control over the balance between 
private and communal: they can withdraw when they need to, but also join in shared activities.

In the communal spaces, social contact arises naturally and without pressure. Parents can share 
experiences and find support in one another. Children can make connections with peers through 
play, helping them to better understand and process the divorce. Temporary Home is therefore more than a place to live. It is a safe in-between step — a place to land, to recover, and to slowly begin looking forward to a new future.
