BB Playscape is a sculptural playset made for kindergarten spaces. The BBs are expressive blocks showing abstract colours and shapes on their screens that respond to how children handle and explore them. Each BB has its designated colour and shares its visual with the other BBs, creating compositions of the children's engagements with the Playscape.
Built entirely from wood, the Playscape is a playful sculpture of multiple environments that the BBs interpret on their screens. Its primitive shapes invite touch and exploration of the landscapes.
The playset is designed for cultural centres and preschools, to make the first encounter with screen technology something closer to play than it is to a screen.
Georges Engelhard is a Swiss/Peruvian designer and maker working across sculpture, interactive installation and product design. Inspired by children’s play and culture, he questions how technology shapes toys and childhood, and how technology can open new ways to exist within playful narratives. Working with wood and electronics, he creates objects and experiences that invite curiosity, believing that technology, like culture, belongs to everyone.
