Enrico Manzella (Italy, 1998) is an erratic, sometimes disciplined artist with a background in physics. The contrast between the long history of religion in Italy and a scientific worldview bring ambivalence and doubt towards what to believe in. His method relies on searching for details, stories or attitudes that are overlooked, reconstructing the system through its assumptions.

In his work Enrico draws from a varied pool of mediums. Right now, this involves red wine and fresh pasta as pivotal elements for a story of tradition and changes. At the core of his practice are a combination of respect and seriousness alongside humor and mockery, to expose fragility around ever-changing beliefs. Putting together food, art and religion, Enrico looks at meaning and value as dynamic and personal things.

For him, it is important to find ways to renew hope independently from absolute beliefs. Canonical subjects are used to address matters of purpose and meaning. By reproposing them differently, Enrico takes parallel world-views, so that beliefs can be assessed and recreated in the present - centered around individuals and their needs.
