Beau van Mourik

Beau Van Mourik (The Netherlands, 2003) is a multimedia artist currently based in Ruurlo, working primarily in oil painting. Through her work, Van Mourik explores the paradoxical nature of her relationship with personal beauty ideals. Wrestling simultaneously with seduction and terror, she becomes absorbed in the construction of her paintings, only to recoil in horror at the end result. During the painting process, Van Mourik draws on her personal fascination with consumerism and depictions of women throughout Western art history.
