How does art bring disappearance back into our awareness? What invisible traces of our ancestors and more-than-human relationships resonate in our work? How do we relate to what disappears or emerges in our surroundings? Are you wokring on any of these research questions in your artistic practice? Then the ArtEZ Platform for Research Interventions of the Arts (APRIA) is looking for you.
APRIA is looking for contributions that offer new perspectives, through artistic possibilities, on the process of (dis)appearance. Specifically, they are interested in the following three themes of (dis)appearance in artistic practices: becoming (im)perceptible, generational passing on/passing through, the (dis)appearing of environments.
The blending of online and offline worlds has greatly expanded how we connect with our surroundings. These connections are not just with the physical things around us, but also with spaces and environments of all kinds, even those we cannot directly perceive. We find ourselves in situations where objects, subjects and processes suddenly appear, only then to evaporate. What is vanishing and what leaves behind trails of glimmers that reverberate through time, space, and our bodies?
You can participate with work in text, image, film, sound, or other media. Submit your contribution by 27 January 2025 to contactapria@artez.nl
